Dearest friends, can you imagine, just for a moment, what it would be like to wake up in the morning and say to yourself “I don’t want anything”. “I don’t need anything”. “I know what peace is now, because I can feel it”. “I recognize the purpose of love now, which is, to simply be in it”. Not to be in love with anything or anyone in particular, but to be in love with love itself. It seems to me, this is the real freedom each of us have been looking for all along. It also occurs to me that for most of our time here in this new place we have been waiting for life to give us something in order for it to have meaning. You see, the irony of life is that we keep desperately searching for something that has already been given, something that is already here. Life is love. Love is life. Reality. Does there have to be any more meaning than that? Fellow companions, are realization and acceptance the same thing, then? I think they have to be. If we expect life to give us something, then we must give life something first. What we give life is our willingness. A beautiful new morning filled with peace, and freedom, and love. When will it come? It comes when we allow ourselves to do the work that must be done.
This new morning is an awareness of the present moment. It remains unavailable to us because of our unnecessary attachment to the past. Bondage. Life cannot be experienced. Love cannot help us understand. We cannot, therefore, truly create what is needed now. We will attempt to do so anyway, but all we will accomplish is a reconstruction of that which we are attempting to free ourselves from. Friends, it is time for us to forgive and let go. It is time for us to acknowledge that a better way must be found. In this way, the past is redeemed. The Christ wants us to know of the only thing that actually exists, which is, a beautiful new morning. The past is unimportant and entirely irrelevant. A simple recognition of our ability to create anew is the only thing being asked of us today. His life and love ensures all success. Indeed, we are already free. We are healed. Our opportunity, then, has never been greater.
