Welcome to the second phase of the Spiritual New Year! The Festival of the Buddha is upon us now in this month of May, and we celebrate the life and teachings of this Great One at the Wesak Festival in a worldwide meditation. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in this glorious event! It is this time of year in which we have the greatest opportunity to receive spiritual insight, or perhaps receive some inspiration about the various aspects of our lives and our world. This is made possible by a very close alignment between humanity and our very own Spiritual Hierarchy in the great sign of Taurus. It is the sign of Taurus that represents this wonderful group of knowers and teachers, for they are the embodiment of the love and wisdom we wish to obtain for ourselves. This is the time of year in which the Plan for humanity is worked out and sent forth, in order that we better ourselves and the conditions of the world in which we live. The energy of Taurus produces illumination within the mind, and it is our Hierarchy who work from the plane of mind to indicate to us new ideas, in order that we create for ourselves more peaceful, loving, and productive human living.
It is our Great Brother, the Buddha, who brings to us the principle of mind, for it is the mind where all creative faculty exists. It is his goal, and the entire goal of the Hierarchy itself, that we learn how to access the capabilities of our mind, in order for us to fully understand that we are indeed co-creators with God. An awareness of this reality may be well into the future for the majority of humanity, but this is in fact the path we are on. A full capacity of mind is the ultimate goal for every human being, but in order to be ready to fully participate in our God-given right to create, love must be fully developed first. This, as you know, is the domain of the World Teacher, the Christ, which we’ll be discussing a bit more next month. Returning to the work of the Buddha, one of the aspects of mind we are developing is that of the intuition. The intuition is a state of mind, my friends, it is not an activity. We know the creative process involves two aspects, that of outgoing activity, which is manifestation, and the incoming energy of ideas, which makes all manifestation possible. To put it simply, we need to know what it is we want and need before we can bring it forward, or make it real in a physical world. It is the work of our brother, the Buddha, that helps us create a state of receptivity within the mind, the intuitive ability itself, which is required in order to receive that which we need. This time of year has the greatest potency, if you will, of this receptive state of mind. We are much more open to the world of ideas, of which our Spiritual Hierarchy, the knowers and teachers, have sent forth for our consideration and potential use. They intend to help us achieve, you see, and we must know that we are needed in order for the creative process to be complete. This is a wonderful time and opportunity to reflect, to contemplate, and to be open to the powerful suggestions available. Again, all that is sent forth and made available to us is intended to bring more peace, joy, love, and is indeed an opportunity for us to create a better life, a better world, and a more beautiful reality based on truth. We are creative agents in this glorious process. Let’s create what we all need, and let’s create it together. My friends, our minds are being illuminated today where we live and breathe, and it is made possible by the love that our Hierarchy represents. Oh, how beautiful and perfect it is!
It is our Spiritual Hierarchy who stands as the Group Soul. Each of us has a soul, which is essentially the higher part of who we really are, and our individual soul is an integral part which makes the higher group be what it is. You can see, therefore, our primary goal right now is to understand ourselves, to know of that higher part of us and what it intends to impart. When this process is complete, we bring all that we have learned and experienced to this Group Soul, namely the Hierarchy, and make it even better and more complete. The same holds true in our physical world, my friends, for each of us adds quality and beauty to the greater whole of humanity. As above, so below! It is our individual soul that stands as the “Divine Intermediary” between the Plans of the Hierarchy and who we are as human beings expressing ourselves in a physical world. It is the Hierarchy who stands as the “Divine Intermediary” between the purposes of God, the purpose of life itself, and what is being created here in our physical world. All of this has great meaning, of which, we know little as yet. But, what we currently know, and want to know, is being greatly accelerated with each passing day. It is the reality of love that allows all of this to be possible. You see, love is not really an emotion. It is a force of attraction that brings to us that which we need. It is love which is the “Divine Intermediary” between what exists as potential and what exists as factual reality. This is the universal principle of cohesion, which allows all that we know, and see, and experience to be possible, or essentially, be what it is. Love stands as the middle factor, if you will, within the creative process itself. It is a pathway between a receptive state of mind and an outgoing creative activity. Our very soul is the pathway to the development of the intuitive faculty of mind. The soul is in reality intuition itself, the attractive nature of love, which is indeed the gateway to the creative agencies of mind. It is very clear, then, that the development of love within the heart is of paramount importance, for we must understand the need to bring all things together into one working whole. Our Hierarchy is the greatest representation of the necessity of working together as a team in common purpose and objective. Each member of this Group Soul has their place, their role and function, their special gift and ability, and each is seen to be equal, each is seen to be critical in the proper functioning of the greater whole. It is this kind of reality they most sincerely wish to impart to us, for it is intended we create the same.
My fellow companions, I hope the creative process, and the required elements that must be in place in order for it to work as intended, is becoming clearer to you. Don’t be overly concerned about all the details, most importantly, the creative mechanism which is our mind, for this will come later in your experience. Yes, my friends, in my experience as well! What is upon us today is the full understanding of love, for love is the attractive force underlying the creative process itself. It is the healing of our emotional self which allows love to enter our experience. This, as you know, is the work of the Christ, the development of the faculties of heart. The work of the Buddha is more involved with our mental development, and how our mind works as a vehicle for creation itself. There are many abilities we are currently developing that will give us greater access to our mind. Yes, there are skills we must acquire for ourselves in order that our mind functions properly, and be the vehicle of true creativity, which is its intended purpose. Today, let’s briefly consider two of them in our ongoing effort to become a more complete self. It is the goal of our brother Buddha, and the Christ himself, to help us fully realize that we are indeed creative agents of God.
A Serene Emotional Self
Oh, my fellow souls, this is the most arduous part of our process. The healing of constant emotional reaction to necessary experience. The healing of constant and changing emotional stimulation. The healing of a past full of judgment and misunderstanding. The healing of perceived hurts and the manufacturing of pain. The constant desire to have everything, and the demand to have it all happen immediately. The incessant wanting and needing of things from others. The unrealistic expectation of some arbitrary state of perfection. The damaging belief that we are entirely different from all others, and that this will always be the case. Asking to be loved in every moment, while not loving ourselves in each of those moments. Seeking knowledge in every moment, while not being willing to apply that knowledge in every moment, through the simple act of doing. Demanding of God, of Christ, of Buddha, or any other Great One, to be saved, and at the same time, being completely unwilling to save ourselves through simple acts of love, kindness, acceptance, giving, and sharing. The all-encompassing desire to have absolutely everything, only for ourselves, and wondering why our excessive and unnecessary achievements have created the emptiness we feel inside. The idea that we must continue to feel separate from our Creator, and subsequently believe that we are separate from all others, in order to maintain our addiction to feeling guilty, is the definition of insanity. We feel bad, and then we ask to be loved again. And so, the dark cave of fear is created over and over again. My friends, to deserve love is not what we’re looking for. To accept the love that has already been given is what we need to do. If we do not feel love in this moment, we must know, in the next moment, it will be there. Yes, the development of a serene emotional self is in order. Without it, we can never have the ability to think at all. Our creative abilities are therefore greatly inhibited. It is the addiction to constant emotional satisfaction that inhibits the very peace and freedom we seek. A peace and freedom we must have in our lives today. This is what the Buddha wants us to know. To create this serenity we desperately need, we must practice telling ourselves no. We must understand that our emotions have no capacity to create anything at all. Only the faculties of mind can do that. The spoiled child is disciplined in this way, and then the possibility of being a responsible adult, with the full creative capacity of the mind, becomes the new reality in which we live. If we expect to feel good all the time, we will surely be disappointed and discouraged. When we understand our mind to be the place of solution and change, then we are well on our way to eternal bliss. This, our brother Buddha knows, for He is wisdom in its fullest expression. My friends, we can be this also. We can be this, by completing the difficult emotional healing that is upon us today. We all have the same problem. It is the problem of unwillingness, brought to us through the illusion of fear. Are we to judge ourselves for a lack of willingness? No, for again, that is an emotional reaction to temporary conditions. The ability to think clearly, as opposed to the habit of emotional reaction, is our most cherished friend today. The Buddha stands.
A Calm, Clear, and Steady Mind
Our mind must be serene as well if we are to be successful in our journey. As the Masters have said, “All disciples must hold the mind steady in the light”. We know light to be awareness. If we are to be truly aware, then, our mind must be clear, calm, focused, and be as free of distraction as possible. This gives real importance to some kind of meditative practice. The furious activity of the mind, one thought to the next, is even more difficult to overcome than the activities of our busy emotional self. But, my friends, with practice, you will achieve. It is the calm and steady mind that creates a space of receptivity. The intuitive space is where we acquire ideas, solutions to overcoming the many obstacles we face, and it is indeed a place to create something that improves our lives and our world. Keep trying, keep letting go, it will come. It is our mind that is a receptacle of what can be. To be intuitive, we must be receptive to what really is. This simple statement requires much contemplation! Notice that I said receptive, not passive, for even within a receptive state of mind, we must be fully engaged. This is the activity part of awareness. A quiet activity, that is certain. The rest of the process, my friends, we do nothing. What has been helpful to me to understand what this intuitive state is like, is to know what humility is like. Although we are exposed to great ideas, for each of us is divinely inspired at times, we must understand the ideas, and the inspiration that supports them, were not created by us alone. Even the highest members of the Spriitual Hierarchy are inspired from above as well. We’re all in the same boat together. We all need to cooperate and be receptive to those who know more. With all this serious discussion, I must tell you, the Hierarchy has fun, and we can have fun working together too. Meditate, contemplate, and pay attention to the thoughts and impressions that benefit all. If we are constantly thinking of only ourselves, of how a great idea will benefit only us, then we are probably not receiving anything of lasting value. Humility, yes, humility. True intuition is a sense of wholeness and inclusiveness. This, love has brought forth. To truly create, then, we need to be receptive, but don’t we also have to do and give after the receiving? I think so. Allow yourself to be inspired! Inspiration is what the Group Soul provides. Today, be inspired to simply be at peace. Tomorrow, show others how it is obtained. The goal of our mind is to create what everyone needs, is it not? Calm down the emotions, quiet the mind. Love is the bridge from here to there. Heart and mind together, an intuitive state is born. The creative process now begins. It is ongoing and always. We receive and then we give. From the mind to the heart to the world. This is the pathway. A little time, a little patience, a little willingness. We’ve got it all!
To all of you loving souls, my teaching is usually short and sweet. Sometimes it’s not! There are times when I want to give you plenty to think about. I hope I have accomplished that today. Remember, an engaged mind is the pathway to freedom. It is the creative process that gets us to the place we would like to be. It is you as the thinker who decides the reality we wish to live in. Thank you for participating! And please, share what you discover, share what you know, share with somebody else what has worked for you in your own life. This is wisdom. It is our actions and efforts today that create a wake of light behind us. In this way, the past is healed. In this way, the present is more available. In this way, the future is always well lit.
