Fellow disciples, today, I would like to offer you a few pointers as you proceed. It is critical, first of all, that you do not allow the chaos and temporary instability of the outer world to move you away from your very own center. In other words, if you become part of the chaos, you will be part of the problem rather than the solution. For a very long time, every disciple will attempt to change the outer world and life, and in this way, you will inadvertently avoid the changes that must happen within first. I cannot stress enough, the outer life and world are but a reflection of what exists in the mind, in your mind. This is where the real work lies and begins.
Although our ultimate goal in this work is to bring change to the outer world, that is humanity, in order to provide the peace and well-being needed, it cannot happen if your mind, your inner reality, is cluttered and subsequently devoid of all clarity. So, what is it, then, that inhibits you from creating this for yourself? Is it impatience? Is it fear? Is it a confusion about what is to happen next? My friends, there are only two things every disciple requires. Acceptance, and a simple willingness. Again, I will tell you, there is nothing that must happen immediately. Take a deep breath and allow the calmness to enter. Let go of any need to control. Acceptance of what is provides the willingness to be open. These two work together, you see. The mind is therefore decluttered in every way. There is no need for you to take on the world at all times. A solution to your own dilemma must be found first before you are able to implement any necessary change in that outer world. So, again, what is the only thing that must happen in this moment? You must realize there is nothing wrong. You are ok, and the world, humanity, is also ok.
I understand that we care, we love, we want to help. But, my friends, if you push others, if you demand change in your brothers and sisters before they are ready, they will resent you, and no necessary change can ever happen. It is the demand you place on yourself that pushes you outward into the world, creating the same dilemma there. Return to the mind and accept the patience being offered. Patience creates openness, and openness creates a receptive state of mind. In ocean waves, ideas begin to flow, in and out, softly and gently. Take hold of, and take care of, the ideas that bring the solutions to your own issues first. The bigger ideas, the ones that will change the world for the better, will always be alongside. In order to bring these forward, we must know how to do it for ourselves. In order to implement great change in the outer world effectively, it’s important we have the correct sense of timing and appropriateness. If our mind, our inner reality, is cluttered with issue, the time is not yet. Remember, ultimately, we are teachers. We have to know what we are teaching. Having said that, don’t pretend that you must resolve everything before you can be of any help at all. We work on ourselves and serve others at the same time. The path is difficult, is it not? Difficult, yes, but impossible, no.
Dearest companions, do you trust yourselves? Learning how to trust ourselves is one of our greatest obstacles. If our goal is to offer the new, the better, we must understand that the new and better is new and better for us too. Faith and trust are one and the same. There is an inner knowing, though, isn’t there? We don’t know how we know, we just know. Ok. As much as I do not enjoy discussing my personal life on this platform, I feel the need to do just that. Perhaps if you know me better, you can know yourself better. Perhaps a little vulnerability opens the door wider. So, here are two things I offer you about my own life. One concerns the work I do here at Indigo Mountain, and the other is a recent development in my actual daily living.
I have often said, the inner life is real, but I also know, I have no way of proving that to you. My friends, teaching the work, putting words on these pages, is not easy. I find myself having to discover courage I didn’t even know I had. I have an extensive background in the Ageless Wisdom Teachings, I have some esoteric knowledge of my own, of my own experience, and I also have at least a basic understanding of what the Plans of the Hierarchy are. But, I must find a way to translate it in such a way that is understandable for you, what is practical, what you can possibly benefit from. It is a great challenge for me, and this challenge I face, I face every single time. I listen inside, and I am able to receive, and then I have to find a way to get it on paper. I have an ego too, my friends, and my ego always tries to convince me that it cannot be done. Do you relate? Trusting the impressions, and creating an ongoing way to bring them forward, is the process we must learn. I am the same as you. One day, not too long ago, the ideas were coming, the intuition was flowing, I had information to provide. I had something to give. Everything was going well. Of course, the ego came in and said, “You can’t say that. People aren’t ready for that stuff. You have no right to impart knowledge the Hierarchy does not want you to impart.” You know the story, I froze. I was overwhelmed with fear. But, I took a moment to remember what the teachings say, yes, a moment of patience was required. And there it was again. “This too shall pass”. One of the most profound experiences I have ever had followed. The voice of one of the teachers came into my mind. The voice was strong, powerful, and absolutely certain. Was it the voice of the Master? My friends, it was so clear, it did not matter. Here’s what he said to me. “Speak with authority and proceed”. Whew! Looking for a sign that the inner life, the Hierarchy, is real? Here you go, buddy. A different kind of overwhelm now, but a good one. I get few messages from the Hierarchy, but what I have learned along the way about the ones that do come, is that the higher the teacher, the higher and more important the message, the fewer words the message will contain. You see, they trust, they know, that we will figure out the rest. Few words are needed. If you have such an experience yourselves, my friends, you will know, beyond any doubt, the validity and the realness of it. So, what was he trying to tell me? Well, again, it’s always simple. Just go ahead. Just do it. We stand beside you, we are with you. You will never be given anything that cannot benefit you and others. If you receive something, it is time to do something with it. Trust, be willing, and then apply. Proceed on your journey, and give what you can along the way. What? Can this be? I have authority? I know something? Again, the teacher says, you have authority because you have the experience which gives you that authority. A belief in myself, a trust in my very own self? What else is there? From that point forward, I feel my work has improved greatly. I have found an easier way. The same can and will happen for you. Why? Because it is written, because it is done.
The other thing I want to share with you today, my friends, is that I am having to take a full-time job in order to keep up, to get the bills paid and so forth. I thought I was retired, but apparently not! The cost of living has skyrocketed, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight. I’m sure you can relate. Those of us participating in the spiritual work realize that we must do it alongside normal and practical living in most cases. Yes, we’re needed in the world, perhaps in more ways than just one. Maybe, one day, we’ll get paid for the very important work that we do. Until then, we do what we have to do. I bring this up, for I ask you to be patient with me. Indigo Mountain will be here, I’m just not sure how much I will be able to provide for a little while. The older we get, the longer it seems to take to make major adjustments in our lives. I must say, I’m pretty adaptable, so it shouldn’t be too long. We are dedicated to this work, and all of us must do whatever it takes to move it all forward. This is what I intend, and I hope you intend the same in your life and work. At this time, it feels appropriate for me to provide this teaching on this platform free of charge. I have to be honest with you, and tell you, that I am still somewhat idealistic at heart. I believe we all should have what we need free of charge, or at least be able to meet our obligations in life in a doable way, in a realistic way. Yes, even spirituality must be practical if it is to have any way at all. My friends, in the future, there may be some changes here at Indigo Mountain. I’m not sure what you would be able to give me, or what I could even ask of you to give. Having said that, for right now, I want you to come to my site and listen and learn, with no financial obligation on your part. After that, I want you to go out and teach and share what you discover. I know we’ll get there together. It is you, it is me, it is we. Fellow souls, you are a blessing to me. I have every intent to continue in any way that I can. What I have to offer you costs me nothing but my time. Thank you for giving me some of your time.
Ok, let’s return to the topic at hand with a few last words. A disciple must gain control over the self before any effective change can be implemented in the outer world. To a certain extent, my friends, we must let go of the outside and do our own healing first. Given our effort and dedication, we make ourselves available to the work of the Spiritual Hierarchy itself. What they make available to us is peace and openness, so that our service to humanity and the world is joyful and necessary, not painful and confusing. They live in the inner world, and we live in the outer world. The two together make all things possible. Gaining control of yourself is not about repression, or oppression, or a forcing of anything in any way. All we are asked is to be willing, to believe in love, and then know love. All that is asked of us is to trust ourselves, and in this trusting, all that is needed shall be given. We free ourselves, and in this freedom found, all freedom shall also indeed be given. We are the authentic nature of the true self, the soul. This soul shall heal all. Greatness is more possible today than ever before. Do you have full confidence, my friends? I know, we must. Have a good time in life, there’s nothing wrong with that! After all, the beautiful new reality awaits. We have no worries, if all that we do is try. The Great Ones who have come before us show us the way. Participate, love, that’s all. We are everything, we are everyone, and we are everywhere. I want you to think about that. There is nothing we cannot do. There is nothing we cannot be. What I know, you must also know. We are together forever, and in this togetherness, we achieve.
