My fellow spiritual students, the further along we get on the path, the quieter things become. The outer life, the inner life, both of these begin to see a necessary state of balance, a calmness. This is a good thing! Although the quiet feels good, it seems important and freeing in its own way, it can also be somewhat unnerving at first. Remember, we’re simply adjusting to a whole new way of being. In other words, don’t panic! With each passing day, with each successive moment, we notice a newness we can’t quite put our finger on. Unfortunately, no matter how far along we may in fact be, with something new, there is a tendency to worry. Worry, as we know, brings in an unnecessary anxiety we experience at times. Remember, “This too shall pass”. My friends, let it pass. Breathe, get grounded, and let the quiet take hold. It has been my experience, and probably yours as well, a misunderstanding that the quiet means there is nothing happening. This could not be further from the truth. Today, let’s talk a little about these, the inner life and the outer life, and see what the quiet means and brings to us, what its significance actually is.
The Outer Life
Have you simplified your life? Have you gotten rid of the unnecessary? These are important goals for every disciple. If you want to be more actively involved in your service to humanity and the world, you must have the time. Perhaps more importantly, you must be as free from distraction as possible. The establishment of these goals will inevitably lead to that necessary quiet. Fewer relationships, less activity, less enthusiasm about the continual building of an outer life, give way to an awareness of the inner life. We know, having arrived at a certain point on our path, that from the inner subjective life is built the outer objective reality. But we also know, the building of this outer reality is no longer for us, it gains an intent and purpose of something much bigger. This is service. So, the quiet, the letting go of the outer world, allows for the participation in a greater purpose. The letting go is painful, this we know, for we have fully engaged with the healing process. We allow the quiet to help us complete this healing. Perhaps we shed a couple of tears, and we know life can never be the same. Yes, a temporary aloneness. We are here, but we are not. This stage is very difficult, my friends, for again, we are so used to constant activity. We have grown accustomed to always creating something out there. Our creative capacity is not lost, however, for a higher and more inclusive creativity begins to reveal itself. The pain of not being able to relate to others or the world falls away. A true love is what we now offer. New relationships, new friends, new contacts develop within. Our spiritual co-workers live within this inner life. But again, it is so quiet at first as to be disturbing. Adjusting to a “quiet activity” is what is upon us. The quieting of the outer world is now welcomed, for it provides the recognition of this quiet inner life. The eternal way begins. My friends, do not worry or be afraid of this new life. Take a moment and realize that we all have lived in a world of our own anyway. An inner world apart from the outer. Our goal now is to make these two worlds be the same. Rest assured, there will be many who will be there alongside us.
The Inner Life
Have you learned how to quiet the mind? Are things slowing down to a pace you can handle? This is the main purpose of meditation. A busy mind is a distracting mind, that is for sure. So, now that you have quieted down, what do you do? Oh, discomfort enters. This will also pass. You see, the quiet must happen first. As the Masters have said, “True revelation comes to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear”. My fellow companions, we’re so used to seeing something, some form of activity. It’s always about doing, always about the stimulation of our physical senses. Let it be said, the inner life operates in a different manner. The eyes to see and ears to hear that the Masters speak of come from a different sense, that of the intuition. The intuition is born of a quiet and calm mind. This is what the Masters are referring to when they say, “All disciples must learn how to hold the mind steady in the light”. Yes, the immovable light of the soul will be found. Be ok with the quiet, be ok with no activity. Peace and quiet must be fully and consistently established first. My friends, if you can get to a quiet place in your meditations and just be, you have accomplished a great deal. Be patient, the rest will come. A quiet mind, a serene emotional self will undoubtably reflect in your outer living. A sense of comfort, a real ease, will be yours in all that you do. What better way to be truly of service to humanity. The inner life, the quiet mind, the light of the soul, this is where the Spiritual Hierarchy lives, moves, and has its being. They have every intent to have this be your reality. A clear place to work from, a pleasant place to be, indeed. The Hierarchy reveals itself slowly, for the power, the light, and the love are great. If there seems to be nothing happening, know, there is a lot happening, that will become yours when the time is right. Be patient, be free, be at peace. There will be times when you experience only darkness in your meditations, in your inner life. There is never a need to fear this kind of darkness. We are safe, we are protected. Remember, light is born of darkness. The light is activity and awareness. The dark is quiet and being. If you just need to recuperate, or regenerate your energies, the darkness is a welcomed friend. With enough practice, you will notice that even the darkness has light. This underlying light is of the most iridescent indigo blue. Yes, this light is alive! If you would like to sit and be in simple purpose, this is the place to be. Amazing! An experience of oneness begins. A self within a Greater Self. An Isolated Unity. It is well worth the quiet, most worthy of your patience, well worth all effort.
Do we have questions, do we ask that a new direction be indicated to us? We sure do. To always have a goal in our meditation practice, however, may be the actual impediment to our answers and success. Sometimes, we just need to sit and be quiet. Bring the light in, bring the love in, and send it right out to humanity and the world. This is our greatest service. We work with light and energy, above and beyond everything else. If you feel ineffectual, if you believe you are not helping out in some way, always remember that. My friends, these inner conversations, these inner contacts we hope to achieve are few and far between. I must tell you, I have been in this work for a very long time, I have been an active disciple for what seems like an eternity and a day, but I get very little information in my meditations these days. Good experience, required preparation, always. Information, only what is necessary. It’s ok, there is nothing wrong. Remember, these times we live in are special indeed. Great change is ever upon us. This incredible forward movement is all-inclusive. Having said that, the teachers, the knowers, the Masters themselves are busier than they have ever been. We’re in this together. We are asked to be entirely patient, and know beyond any doubt, we will be given everything we need when the time is right. Get out there and give a little light, give a little love. It’s a simple request, is it not? The inner life works when we give the inner life to a waiting world. The noise is thereby quieted in every way.
Get comfortable with the quiet
All we need exists in this quiet
Let the quiet indicate an interlude, a necessary balance
Great things are indeed coming our way
The light and love we require radiates outward from the quiet place
Be in the quiet place, and radiate this light and love today
The sound is the silence, the light is a quiet love
All my love and support, be well
