“Telling the Truth Is Much Better Than Lying”

A book 5178205 1920 (1)

My friends, there is no better time than today to practice telling the truth. If we give it a try, we might just find it easier than lying. We might even feel a lot better too! I must say, with a little practice, the truth will surely be seen as the best way to go. That being said, there are many reasons we’re unable to speak the truth at times, but all of these reasons will eventually become irrelevant, for truth brings with it a freedom that cannot be found in the unnecessary and undue effort of lying. Yes, lying may seem to be a little easier, and telling the truth may seem a little more challenging. So, let’s consider today why this is the case, and in so doing, we’ll be encouraged to live truth to the best of our ability, in each and every moment.

Lying is easier, for there is little or no self-confront involved. Telling the truth is more difficult, for it opens the heart, making us vulnerable. This vulnerability is indeed uncomfortable. We become exposed, others are able to see who we really are. My friends, what we fear, is the possibility we may not be liked or accepted. If we lie, or perhaps withhold the truth, this outcome is less likely. It is less likely, for almost everyone else is equally afraid. Tragically, then, there is more opportunity to belong in lying than in truth telling. You see, we fear that if we speak the truth, there’s a good chance others will reject us and walk away. This fear brings to us a different kind of reality, a reality that we may in fact have to stand alone at times. The discomfort we experience will be seen as necessary, however, for we cannot know who we really are without expressing who we really are. If we are to live truth, we must sometimes sacrifice the need to be together, the need to always belong. I tell you, the discomfort of truth is temporary, and will eventually be welcomed, for the terrible discomfort of dishonesty is all that much greater.

My fellow companions, when we lie, we will inevitably have to proceed by covering it up, in order to make it real and valid. We attempt to make the lie be the truth. Even worse, we’ll most likely have to tell another lie to support the one initially told. One day, we’ll wake up and realize, the lie always needs to be supported, while the truth never requires it at all. Eventually, this game, which is a game we only play with ourselves, will lead us to a darkness and isolation that is difficult to escape. You see, we will have defeated our purpose of wanting to be loved, accepted, of wanting to belong with others. Ironically, our willingness to be dishonest in order to belong creates the separateness we are desperately trying to avoid. If we take the risk and speak truth, we always stand in light, and in this light, we are never alone. Again, without some willingness to be vulnerable, the light and love we seek has no place to enter. If others cannot accept the truth we have to offer, then let them walk away. The authentic self stands in truth and stands in light. This is real freedom, for what else could possibly be! It’s a lot less work than pretending to be someone we are not. To lie is to be less than genuine, to accept what is not, rather than accept what actually is. It takes a lot more energy, we become lost and exhausted. With a little practice and effort, the discomfort of standing alone in our own light and truth, will give way to an awareness of eternal togetherness. This is why separateness is really an illusion, for each of us has a higher self which always stands in the light of truth. This is what makes us all the same. This is what we have in common. This is what cannot and should not be changed. The whole truth is the only reality. It is one thing, not many.

Yet another reason we fail to express the truth, is that we do not know what the truth is. My friends, I tell you, you must know something! Accept what you do know, a knowledge based on your own experience, and go with that. It is an honesty and willingness to stand up in the truth that you have which will reveal the next part of the truth you seek. How could any person be wrong with an eagerness to know more? All things change. We grow in every moment. Go ahead and take a risk. Express who you currently are, and the better self you seek will naturally unfold. The only time we get into trouble is when we believe that some ultimate truth has been found, and there can be nothing else. You see, the ego wishes to be done, to have something be forever. The higher self is constantly aware of the more. To be humble, is to say to ourselves, “If I have to prove my truth, no truth has in any way been found”. Honesty equals humility, humility indicates acceptance, and acceptance brings all possibility. A possibility of truth.

Each of us will reach a point in our life path when we feel impelled to speak our truth at every instance. At this point, the seeking of truth becomes an unbridled seeking of personal power. My friends, we must be aware, we must exercise caution. To proceed on our path safely and authentically, then, we speak truth when it is warranted, and when it is asked for. Remember, if we are legitimately standing in the light of truth, nothing can be, or should be, proven. We do not force truth, we let all others find it. In this way, more truth will be found for ourselves.

So, we have,”The truth shall set you free”

What is the importance of this well-known phrase? How does truth bring us more freedom? Well, the truth sets us free because we no longer have anything to hide. We have nothing to hide from others, we have nothing to hide from ourselves. We don’t have to lie anymore, for there is nothing to protect or defend. We become free of a past self who was afraid to grow. We are free, for we can be ourselves. We are the real self. We are willing to take the risk and be the truth we know to be the truth today. And yes, we are free to know more of the truth in each successive day. We are free to stand on our own, to stand in the light of our own minds, and the love of our own hearts. What else could there be? Sure, there is always more to know, but we have no fear, because the truth has already been revealed. It is a revelation of the process itself, an ongoing journey of seeking and finding the self that does know. It is the One Self, born of light, love, and purpose. This is freedom in truth. Freedom to live, to exist in the only reality that is. To share this freedom, to share the truth of light and love, is a freedom to also know of purpose. In this purpose, all are welcome. All are welcome to accept. All are welcome to be.

Stand in the light of truth

Stand in this light, even if the truth is unknown

Stand in this light together, and all unknown truth shall be known

Stand in the light of truth, and all shall be free, for all are indeed free in the one

Yes, we stand in the one light, the one truth, the one love

It has always been and will always be

My dearest friends, all love and support to you and yours, be well
