“A Serious Problem Exists Within the Highest Court of the United States”

My friends, to say that the United States Supreme Court is misusing its power would be an understatement. For those of you who have a limited understanding of how the U.S. Government is set up, it basically has three equal branches. Equal, meaning each of these bodies have equal power and an equal say as to how our government implements its policies. These are the Legislative, Judicial, and Executive Branches. The power structure is designed in such a way that each of these bodies keeps each of the other bodies in check. In this way, then, none of these three would be able to gain excessive power over any other. At least, this is how it’s supposed to work. Today, we have a Right-Wing Supreme Court to the extreme, as there are six justices in this body who are far more conservative than the most conservative among us. Let me remind everyone that the role of the Supreme Court, the Judicial Branch, is to interpret the principles and meaning of the U.S. Constitution, and apply these to the laws and legislation as created by Congress, the Legislative Branch. Remember, the members of Congress are who we elect as American citizens, to develop laws and policies that represent the majority of us. In other words, the role of the Supreme Court is to decide whether the legislation put forth by Congress supports the principles as found in the Constitution.

Unfortunately, none of the above-mentioned is happening in any way. Not only is the U.S. Congress frozen in a harmful state of inaction, the ultra-conservative members of the Supreme Court have taken it upon themselves to legislate for them. This has allowed these six justices to push their own rigid belief system onto 330 million Americans. So far, they have overturned every one of the most important pieces of legislation Congress has created over the last century. My friends, this cannot stand. No matter what any of these ultra-conservative justices say, in fact, no matter what any lawyer, or any of our current Congressional Representatives say, the goal of these six people is to have the most conservative principles of the Christian Church be the doctrine of the United States of America. Our government would then be a theocracy, not a democracy, and its policies and laws would be based on vastly misunderstood religious principles of the Christian Church. Yes, it would be Christianity, and no other. Secular life as we know it would come to an end. And, I must tell you, this attempt to move society backwards, is not into the1950s, but into the1650s.

If this “Christian Nationalist Movement” isn’t damaging enough on its own, we have another small, but extremely powerful group supporting it. These are the super wealthy. These two groups of Americans are perhaps 20-30% of us, certainly not a majority, by any means. Two groups of people that don’t seem to go together, or apparently have anything in common. I will say, however, they do in fact have something very important in common, that is, they seem to be missing a heart, which would of course indicate a true love and caring, an awareness and vision of the welfare of humanity. My friends, the Supreme Court of the United States is allowing a small minority to dictate every aspect of our lives. Again, they have stopped, and will continue to stop, every attempt made by Congress to move all of us forward into a better future. Freedom of self-expression, the opportunity to take care of ourselves, and an ability to have a say about the values of our country, our world, and humanity itself, will all come to an end. This is not an exaggeration, it’s an emergency, beyond any doubt.

I understand all of this is obvious to most of you, and indeed repetitive on my part, but we must be completely aware of the dangerous place we find ourselves in. The pathway forward is clear. The Democratic Party must be elected to every position of power and leadership, at every level of government. Yes, our responsibility is to vote, but we must also make the Democratic Senators and Representatives we have today aware of the very serious conditions that exist in the highest court of America. Something must be done, not tomorrow, not after the election, but today. We still have a voice, we still have a say.

For those of you who are still not entirely alarmed by what is currently happening in this country, I have three questions for you:

Do you really want the Catholic Church to be the governing body of the United States? Let me remind you, the Catholic Church doesn’t even remotely resemble anything close to true Godliness. It is a patriarchy, born of greed, separation, hatred, violence, and lust for personal power. If you don’t believe me, you owe it to yourself to study the history of Christianity and the Catholic Church, and the policies of the Catholic Church that still stand today.

Do you really want the only human beings that matter in this world to be extremely wealthy, white men? I understand this is already the case to a great extent, but we will have no opportunity to change it if Donald Trump and the Republican Party are reelected to power, and if the Supreme Court remains the creator of the very unfortunate reality upon us today.

Do you really want the struggle of the average American citizen to become much worse? My friends, it can happen here. It’s already happening.

We have the power and agency to create the reality we wish to be so. We do not accomplish this by setting forth policies and plans to reduce the negative impact of autocracy if Donald Trump, or someone just like him, is elected to power, nor do we attempt to limit the destruction that is currently underway in the Supreme Court in some obscure way. We deter this outcome entirely by not allowing it to happen in the first place. We can do this. We do care.

All my love and support, be well
