There are many ways to define arrogance. In order to gain a real sense of its true meaning, perhaps we need to understand what it implies. Arrogance is about believing that one knows something they do not. It is also about believing one has a greater power they in fact do not have. The most damaging part of arrogance is that a person believes they have achieved a level of understanding that allows them to have the right to influence, and therefore dictate, to others what is correct. If we want to see an example of how all of these unfortunate things come together, we can look at the conservative justices that sit on the United States Supreme Court. American people, I think we have a problem. Let’s take a look.
Hopefully, it is unnecessary to remind everyone that the Supreme Court makes decisions that affect our entire way of life. What is often forgotten is that even they are supposed to represent the views and the will of the American people, as they are indeed government officials as well. If you happen to not be following the decisions coming down from this court over the last few years, most of them do not reflect the majority of us in any way. Unfortunately, the conservative justices on this court have adopted the belief that they know what is best for us, regardless of us having a say. My friends, this is not how democracy is supposed to work. The arrogance of this conservative court has become so severe, as it comes from of course a misunderstood and misplaced authority, that its decisions are in fact having an enormous adverse effect on all of us, rather than having a beneficial impact which it is intended to provide. This cannot stand, for the majority does not wish to return to the 1800s as a way of living. Let’s remember, we are the government, and it is we who decide what is up and what is down. There are things we can do to make changes in this area, but as our government operates today, it will be a difficult process.
We can begin by understanding, without any doubt, who the conservative justices of the U.S. Supreme Court work for. If they are willing to take extravagant gifts from billionaire donors to the Republican Party, and these individuals will definitely have business before this court, we can be assured their decisions will be in favor of them. Keep in mind, the United States Constitution and the Law are to apply to all American citizens, not just a few of the wealthiest. I think we can be certain that the motivations of these conservative justices are equal to those of the Republican Party. We cannot forget during these important times of change, money leads to power, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts always.
In order for us to implement the changes necessary, we must remember it will take some time. What is required of us is to elect more Democrats to the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, so we must vote in every election. This is the only way. These are serious matters before us, my friends, matters that have grave consequences. We have already seen this to be the case. For our careful consideration, we have:
Samuel Alito
John Roberts
Clarence Thomas
Neil Gorsuch
Brett Kavanaugh
Amy Coney Barrett
Does this small group of individuals represent the views of the majority in America? No, it does not. Does it reflect the self-interest of the wealthiest of Americans? It does. What may be even worse, is that it does indeed reflect the conservative views of a Christian Church that no longer have any practical value for us today. Next month, we’ll be taking a look at the importance of the separation of Church and State within the establishment of a true democracy. We will see it has some pretty serious implications in terms of what is happening behind the scenes in politics today.
Supreme Court or Supreme Arrogance? Unfortunately, it is the latter which happens to be what we are seeing, and we can see it. The conservatives on this court mistakenly believe they have a right to behave in an unseemly fashion, and that we must let them go ahead and do whatever to us at any cost. They are so above us, we have no capacity or right to do anything about it.
I don’t think so.
All my love and support, be well
