“The Ending of Monopolies Begins”

News 1074604 1920

Antitrust Laws have been on the books in the United States for a long time now. It is the policy of the United States to not allow any company within any particular industry to have complete dominion. The goal is, therefore, to have adequate opportunity, fairness, and necessary competition within the business world itself. Although we do have Monopoly Laws to ensure this, they seem to be rarely implemented. Having said that, the United States Justice Department is currently suing “Live Nation”, also known as “Ticketmaster”, for violating our Antitrust Laws. This is a very good sign. I would remind everyone, this level of accountability is long overdue, and has been made possible through the Democratic Party and the Justice Department they have appointed. Ticketmaster is just one of many such companies who are in clear violation of our Monopoly Laws. Rather than go into detail about this particular case, let’s talk about why these laws are important, and why the United States Justice Department may be indicating that it is high time to hold these companies to account. Companies who are greatly inhibiting and damaging the fair and open operation of the business world.

It should be very clear to us, there is no company, in any industry, who has the right to claim they are the very best and only way. It should be even clearer, there must be every opportunity for every person to be able to participate in the business world in order that we as consumers have access to the highest quality products and services. The more of us who are able to participate, the more choices we will have. We as the American people need to be honest and realize it is pure greed that has allowed many companies to dominate unjustly and unfairly. Certain companies are then able to control, entirely control, the output of certain industries at the exclusion of any other possibilities. When this happens, monopoly has been created, and it adversely affects us in every way. Monopolization, therefore, has the outcome of three unfortunate conditions within the business world, or rather, it affects three important areas of every business within the business world. My friends, this is really not my area, so I’ll keep it brief this time around!

Innovation

Diversity in the business world brings us new ideas, new ways, and certainly the potential for the creation of better products and services. We discussed last time the power and importance of our young people, and what they can bring to create a better life and world for all. They have great ideas, but we give them little to no opportunity today to bring it forward. We know how many resources and how much money is required to start a new business. Even if these things are available, and this availability is becoming less and less, companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon shut them out. Creativity and innovation are given no pathway. Even if our young people find a way into these companies, their great ideas will be given no possibility of fruition because high profit margins are the only goal. Our way is the only way, and there can be no other.

Quality

With a lack of competition, there would obviously be fewer choices. My friends, monopolies create lower quality, not higher. Huge corporations provide us with low quality products and services because they can. If a certain company dominates, it doesn’t have to provide us with anything at all. We are forced to use and buy what is available. No, my friends, Google is not God, nor is Apple or Microsoft. If we allow other companies to be developed, higher quality and true innovation are a certainty.

Prices

Again, monopolies create higher prices for everything, not lower. They charge obscene prices for goods and services because they can. I will tell you, with more competition comes lower prices and better products and services. Our history has shown us this at every turn. Only we can make that happen. It is the Justice Department of the United States that must bring Antitrust Laws into full effect today. But, we must be patient. These huge monopolies have trillions of dollars at their disposal. They can tie these issues up in our court system for many years because of it. Do you see, my friends, what greed creates? It inhibits our progress in every way.

I find myself needing to be cautious about appearing partisan, but only the Democratic Party supports an honest and fair Justice System. Has the Republican Party ever held a corporation or individual billionaire accountable? Well, perhaps one or two. But, again, let’s be honest. The wealthy and the corporate world pave the way for the Republican Party to exist. None of these will help us move forward. We must be clear and see who has the ability to help us move forward together in the best way today. If you are tired of high prices and low quality, you can be assured the Republican Party will maintain these unfortunate conditions, a status quo, that can no longer be sustained. Get out there and vote.

Thank you, Merrick Garland, the Democratic Party, and the United States Justice Department, for providing us with some much-needed accountability. The ending of monopolies begins.

All my love and support, be well
