Special Council, Jack Smith, has resubmitted his indictment against Donald Trump for the attempted overthrow of the United States Government. With the recent “Absolute Immunity” case decided by the Supreme Court, Jack Smith has removed certain elements of this case that could be considered immune, in order to proceed with the case overall. My friends, there is still plenty to work with, and Donald Trump can still therefore be held accountable for his actions. Let it be said, the “political obstruction”, for that’s what it is, created by the Supreme Court, will not stop us within this great democracy of ours from having the rule of law apply to all. Having stated these simple facts, seeing the trial of Donald Trump before the upcoming presidential election is extremely unlikely. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter, for it is likely the Justice Department and Jack Smith will release new evidence never seen by the American people. This, they must do, for we have a right to know. We have the right to be properly informed of all matters before we proceed to the ballot box in November.

I think what Jack Smith has done is provide us with yet another gift. It is the simple realization that no matter what obstructs our path forward, we can still find our way. Indeed, we can create what is needed in a different way. We know our democracy is not perfect, it is an ongoing experiment in better human living. The implication is that we must always continue finding and creating improvements. Although our democracy is imperfect, and it is certainly better than what we had before, we still have every opportunity to perfect it even further. If we wish to create equality and fairness, for this is the essence of democracy, we must begin with the simple and basic things first. To improve upon it, there are things that must be changed. To know what must be changed, we must recognize what obstructs our path, we need to realize what is not working. To a great extent, my friends, we must be willing to abandon the status quo. Let’s consider the following.

The Electoral College

In a democracy, the majority has the final say. We vote for the president, senators, and congressional representatives. We decide who is to have power and authority, who is to speak on our behalf. Basically, my friends, whoever receives the most votes wins. It’s as simple as that. So, what is the purpose of the Electoral College, then? You will get various responses to this question, and none of them hold any practical value for us today. All the Electoral College really does is give a small group of individuals, smaller and less populated states, to have more of a say in the outcome of an election than they should. Basically, it gives the minority an opportunity to override what the majority has decided. It makes the popular vote, our vote, not matter. In our modern times, it has given the Republican Party a way to get around the choices made available to us, and the clear decisions we have made about those choices. Minority Rule, not Majority Rule, has been given a way. If we need an explanation as to why the majority of American people do not trust their own government, this is the reason why. The Electoral College having the final say over who gets elected must be abandoned in order to reinstate the faith we must have in our own government. And, by the way, the Republican Party insists upon small government, efficient government, and less spending, but they would have no interest in eliminating this redundant, unnecessary, and harmful element of our democratic process.

The United States Senate

Speaking of redundancy, why do we need two chambers within our legislative body? Does anyone have a legitimate reason? It is the House of Representatives that truly speaks for the various constituencies found in our great country. Perhaps the United States Senate was seen as a necessary check on the House of Representatives we elected. If the 100 Senators we have in Congress today represented their constituencies, which is their role, then they would be willing to pass the laws and legislation as put forth by the House of Representatives. And yet, we have a continuous state of inaction and obstruction. Again, we apparently have no say with our vote. This is still another way for the minority to have more of a say than is necessary, more of a say than is right. What we have in Congress today, is an unfortunate opportunity to give all the power to smaller and smaller groups. This is not what our forefathers intended. If the U.S. Senate is unable to make corrections to itself, in order for us to have a full-functioning government, then this body must be dissolved as well. We can have an efficient government that truly serves the American people. Today, the two parts of our government that obstruct a better way forward more than any other, are the United States Senate and the United States Supreme Court. Dearest friends, the purpose that democracy indicates, is the power the majority must have.

Lifetime Appointments to the Federal Judiciary

My friends, these powerful positions within our government are political appointments, not elected ones. It is true that we indirectly elect these officials by electing one of our parties into power. Having said that, there is currently no political position, including the presidency, that has its position be an indefinite one. There is, therefore, no position within any of our institutions that should have influence and say over the American people for more than six years. This is especially the case within our judiciary, for these individuals do have the final say over what is up and what is down. Who shall be held accountable, and who shall be above the law. If any of these individuals of great power make a decision that is incorrect, if they go against what the majority wants, and many do, it can have a lasting and devastating impact for generations. My friends, society grows and changes, we become more aware of what is working and what is not working. Every day, we are becoming more able to truly govern ourselves. In this way, we are in constant change, and we must be able to implement these changes when they become necessary. We cannot let any individual, or any small group of individuals, to somehow create an unwelcomed permanence to the reality we wish to live in. We are the ones who create. We have the final say over our very own lives. Our greatest blessing is to see and know that nothing lasts forever, nor should it. If that were the case, the best way would never be found.

Amendments to the U.S. Constitution

Fellow Americans, our forefathers never intended the Constitution as it was written many years ago, to be the end of all that could ever be. They knew that democracy as a way of life was experimental. They could not possibly foresee everything, they had no ability to see every possible way to improve it and make it better. That’s our job. They did, however, give us the right to make changes, that is, when we acquired the experience and wisdom to do so. This beautiful creation is ongoing. We can make amendments to this most important document at any time. We can rewrite it, so that it will clearly represent what we value today. If there is ambiguous language within that original document, we can change it, so that it is absolutely clear. If we continue this constant need to interpret it correctly in order to move forward, we will never move forward. Unfortunately, our obvious need to modernize this crucial part of our democracy has allowed certain individuals, who do not have our best interests in mind, to interpret its language to serve only their selfish interests. We can no longer allow this. Again, it is our congressional representatives who have the power. It is time for them to accept the responsibility we have given them. It is time for them to really be of service to us. It is time for change. It is time for them to have all courage and change what is necessary for us to have a better country for all. If our government chooses to remain entirely irresponsible, this beautiful place will continue to deteriorate beyond recognition. This is the status quo, and it is the status quo the Republican Party has every intent to maintain. Ultimately, it is our responsibility. So, get out there and vote, and vote for the Democratic Party, for it is only they who have the ability and willingness to help us along our way. Apathy is no longer. The status quo must die.

The Reconstruction of the Appeals Process

We’ll keep this one simple. There is no person, no matter how educated they may be, who believes that a court proceeding should take years and years to complete. The only ones who benefit, then, by the Courts of Appeal, are the rich and powerful. And guess what? We have to pay for that. Because of the obscene redundancy, and because of the incessant and unnecessary attention to details that do not matter in the end, there is often little to no accountability. Those who are creating enormous difficulty and harm for the majority of us in society, by abusing that very society, have no incentive to change their behavior. Again, it is Congress who makes everything so complicated. Those of us who observe our various court proceedings unfold know, most of the time, who is guilty and who is innocent. Our justice system is in such a state of chaos and over-complexity today, that no person is really being served. If our government is to be efficient, if our politicians are to provide to the American people what they have asked for, then they will have every intent to simplify the justice system we have today. It is the responsibility of our Justice Department to provide accountability for every person, most importantly, the highest of our government and corporate leaders. If any man or woman is made to be above the law, then every other person shall also be above the law. We cannot have it both ways. The role of our justice system is to provide for us the information we need to make the correct decisions for ourselves. There are, unfortunately, so many within our institutions who are willing to run away and hide. Do they fear losing their job by the tyrants who live among us? My friends, there is not one of us who is guaranteed to keep our job forever. We’re willing to take that risk, for what else is there for us to do. We ask of our leaders to have the same courage and willingness as we have. Appeal after appeal, so much of our money and resources, and no accountability. The majority of the American people know, beyond any doubt, Donald Trump is a sociopathic asshole. So, what is the point of all this? The only thing the cowards within our justice system, and indeed within one of our two political parties have created, is an opportunity for a twelve-year-old little boy to regain the power he unjustly acquired the first time. And, my friends, if you don’t think one man can destroy one of the greatest countries ever created, indeed, the entire world itself, you are living in a dream world. It isn’t just Donald Trump who is the problem, either. Look at Google. It has been indicated now that this massive company is indeed a monopoly. Everybody knows that. Nevertheless, appeal after appeal, and many years down the road, when all is said and done, this 2.8 trillion dollar company might, might be fined a mere 100 million dollars for their damaging business tactics. Our justice system has some problems. It also has many good things. But, if we let the good things be enough, we will never correct what needs to be corrected. We can do this.

States Rights vs. Federal Rights

The Republican Party, the conservatives among us, have always demanded that the fifty states which make up the United States have more power than an overriding Federal Government. This power has already been given. Each State Legislature has the right to implement its own policies and objectives that govern their state. In the United States today, if you want to live in a state in which conservative Christian values are lived by, for example, you can do that. But, you cannot accept federal funds to implement those values within a public school. The only reason for this, is because we do live in a diverse nation. There are many religions and ways of life. You have already been given the right to express yourselves as you see fit, but you must do so privately in some, but not all, cases. And by the way, the United States Government has never demanded of any woman to have an abortion. If this goes against your particular value system, then don’t have an abortion. The states do have rights. This is not the problem. The problem is that certain groups, certain individuals, are attempting to impose their particular version of reality on everyone else. This is why we have a Federal Government, which must represent the majority, which must have the final say. Nothing is being taken from you. It is you who are taking. I would like to point out as well to our friends in so-called red states, your states take most of the money and resources the government has available. Although you still may not have enough, you would have nothing at all, if it were not for the Federal Government you consistently oppose at every turn. The Republican Party, and its constituents, constantly complain about blue states, and yet take from those blue states all they have to offer. The Democratic Party, and the blue states who make up this Party, have the most money and resources, and they already give it back to those who need them the most. It should be clear, we all must have rights, and these rights must be the same for all. If your state wishes to secede from the union, because you do not get your way at every turn, you can do that too. As an individual, you have the right to live in the state of your choice, or the country of your choice as a matter of fact, as well. In this country, we must have the freedom of choice available always. Yes, to each, his or her own way then.

The Removal of Money from Our Electoral System

The most significant reason why it is so difficult to create change in the United States, is all the money that is allowed in politics. Those who have it all, do in fact elect our politicians for the most part. This is the lobbying of Congress, an unfair and unjust system indeed. The lobbyists, the wealthy corporations and individuals, make the policy of our government. If this remains the way we go about our political business from here forward, a real democracy can never be. If we are to be successful, if we want to have the ability to create necessary change, there can be no private contributions to any political party, or any individual to be found within any political or governmental institution. Our electoral process must be publically funded. If we are willing to do this, our system of government will be entirely fair and entirely simplified.

A Complete Rethinking of the Role of the Supreme Court

The six conservative Supreme Court Justices we have today are a mockery of what this nation stands for. Something must be done. No matter what Congress, or any member of Congress says, it is that same Congress who does have the power and authority to fire these six people. Slowly, but surely, we are sliding back at least 200 years. Is that ok with you? Remember, back then, women didn’t even have the right to vote. The corporate world was even greedier than it is today, if that is even possible. Filth, disease, and extreme poverty were our reality then. My friends, do you want to go back, do you want to live that way all over again? Most of us do not, and most of us will not. It is acutally Congress who must have the final say, not the Supreme Court. This is our democracy, our country, our world. The role of the Supreme Court is to uphold the law, not to create it. We care, and we must show that we care. Get out there and vote. Be involved in every way that you can. The opportunity to move forward together has never been greater. I believe we will succeed.

Thank you, Jack Smith, for being willing to continue with the work that you must do, with what we need you to do. Thank you, for giving us an opportunity to see the bigger picture, what’s at stake for all of us. We each have our part to play. Yes, we have a lot of work ahead of us. It is unlikely we can create all of these changes today or even tomorrow. But, we must begin today. We give ourselves the opportunity to consider every possibility. We are smart, we are loving, and we are joyful because of it. We are friends, we are brothers and sisters, you see. Today is our opportunity to do it all, to do what we came here to do. Today, we do it all together, for this is the only way it can be. We have all hope, and with all this hope, we have all guarantee.

Be well
